9/01/21 Warning and Promise

Jesus came with a warning and a promise. He warned the darkness that their rule of mankind was about to end. He promised mankind that they no longer needed to be helpless and under the control of the ruler to whom Adam and Eve had submitted themselves through their disobedience. They could now be released from that bondage if they chose Him and His life.

As a husband and father, the most important life you can show your family is the life of Jesus. Using the Word and the life imparted to you because of the cross, they can have safe passage through all the turmoil of the world. Their lives can be an example of the wonder of the life of Jesus, if you show them Who He is by being an example of Him in their midst.

How are you doing with that? How is your relationship with Jesus and your intimacy with God coming along? Are you prioritizing your days in the quest for intimacy? Are you determined to know Jesus and the power outflowing from His resurrection as your priority? Are your plans for your life the same as God’s?

Men, you carry the most important and most difficult offices ordained by God. You are called to carry His life and His hope to those you steward. You also have access to the throne room to receive anything you need, any time you want. Nothing can hinder your success if you walk with your heavenly Father as Jesus did, and walk in the promise that Jesus gave. The bondages of the world should have no hold on you because you are His. Walk in that freedom for the sake of those who are yours and for the glory of God.

8/31/21 Always Listening

“I hold you close to My heart. I will show you where to go and what to do. You can be assured that I am always aware of your every need. I also care about your every desire. Remember that it is My promise to change whatever desires are really not for you. Sometimes it may look like I am not hearing your prayers. I am, however, always listening. At times, much needs to take place in and around you before answers come. Whatever takes place, it is always for your good and for My plan to come to pass in your life. While you are waiting, be like Jesus to someone. Plant seeds of love. Water relationships. Tell everyone of My love. Seek to be in line with My purposes. Come to Me often. Let’s talk!”

 Hebrews 13:5b AMP

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

James 4:7-10 NIV

7) Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8) Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

9) Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.

10) Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

I Pet. 1:13-19 NIV

13) Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

14) As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

15) But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

16) for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’

17) Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.

18) For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed  from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers,

19) but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

Father, bring my heart in line with Yours. Thy will be done,

8/31/21 Rejecting an Offer

A poverty stricken man had to travel to his job, which was located in a distant city. Because he was so poor and it was the only job he could find, he had to make the trip there and back each day in an old, barely running rust bucket of a car. His livelihood depended on that car. It was the only means for him to get there, even though it often broke down, causing him often to almost lose his employment.

So every morning long before anyone else was even up, the man packed all that he would need for the trip, and took off down the road in a cloud of smoke that would obscure him from sight the further he would go. Late at night, he would return exhausted, only to have to do the needed repairs on the car so that he could make the trip the next day.

One day, as the man pulled over on the side of the road to make some repairs so that he could continue on his journey, a kindly man in tattered clothes walked up to him, seemingly from nowhere. "I've been watchin' ya make this trip every day. Been lookin' at  ya from my porch over there," he said, pointing to a run-down shack just off the highway behind some trees. "I feel sorry for ya with this no-luck car that ya got, so I'd like to help ya," he continued.  "In that barn over there," he turned and pointed to a barn that looked even worse than the house, "I got me this limo. It's yours if ya want it cuz I don't use it no more. I'll even drive ya wherever ya gotta go if ya want me to. Got nothin' better to do."

"Get away from me, old man," the traveler spat with  impatience. "I have enough trouble without someone like you making promises that you can't keep." With that, he returned to the well-worn muffler to reattach  it.

The next day from his front porch, the kindly man sat and watched as the beat up jalopy hobbled its way down the road again. Shaking his head in sorrow for the embittered  traveler, he headed  toward the  barn to polish the new limo he had inherited, wondering how he might use it to help someone that day.

How often do we, as husbands and fathers, respond in the same way to God’s offer to be in charge of every situation we face?

8/30/21 Free and Smiling

“Adjust your timetables to fall in line with Mine and you will be free. Your struggles, your worries, and your concerns do not have a place in the life I have chosen for you. Think on this. I am God – the One True God. I have all power, power far beyond your most intense imagination. You are My child through your acceptance of My Son, Jesus, and what He has done for you. Because of that, My life would freely flow to you if you would choose to accept it. That would mean that nothing could harm the eternal you. You could be free from all strife and worry simply by trusting that I care enough to take care of you.

"Your life is not free only because you hinder Me. Satan is defeated. There is no hold over your life to stop you from receiving My presence. Why do you choose to believe the lies of the world that bind and condemn you instead of My Word that eternally works in you to set you free? I love you. Choose to receive Me and My Word and you will be free.”

 John 8:36 AMP

So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free.

 I Thess. 2:13 AMP

And we also [especially] thank God continually for this, that when you received the message of God [which you heard] from us, you welcomed it not as the word of [mere] men, but as it truly is, the Word of God, which is effectually at work in you who believe [exercising its superhuman power in those who adhere to and trust in and rely on it].

The idea of the Creator of the Universe imparting anything to us is enough for me to walk around smiling for a long time. When I begin to really accept the idea that He has covenanted to impart whatever is needed in my direction whenever He sees the need to do so, it sets me free.

I often wonder how I would appear to those around me if I really grasped who I am in Christ, how much I am loved, and the amount of power flowing my way to accomplish the will of the Lord in my life. For starters, I’m sure people would wonder why I’m grinning all the time.

Everyone would have to admire – or at least wonder about - a spirit that is always full of joy, immovable in its identity no matter what trials ensue, and overflowing with love toward everyone – all the time. I would imagine that such understanding would allow everyone to flow in such freedom that nothing would be able to rob them of who they really are in Christ - ever.

Let’s do something! Let’s take this day to focus on even one aspect of who we really are in Christ. Let’s ask the Lord to remind us of even a single promise that He has said is ours from His Word. When our minds begin to stray from that promise, let’s pull that promise back into focus and receive it again as ours - which it really is. As we do this, when we receive it - I mean really receive it as ours - let’s smile.

Let’s take another promise tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. Maybe we can all begin to have true “glory strength” flowing from us to others as the Word changes us.

Wanting to smile, and smile, and smile,

8/30/21 Who Do They See?

Smith Wigglesworth, an evangelist from the early 1900’s, would enter a train compartment and people would have to leave it because the presence of God in him convicted them of their sins. He didn’t preach or say anything.

We don’t even begin to understand that. We spend the largest portion of our lives providing for our feathered nests; and finally, if we have any time left over, it goes to God. Then we wonder why we are powerless to affect - for eternity - the people that God brings across our path or help our families find real safety during deep challenges.

Think about it. How many people have you been in contact with since you were saved? How many have seen Jesus, even a little bit, because of that contact? I’m not talking about today’s version of Jesus – the scurrying around to put out social fires lit by others rather than helping them to see Jesus. I’m talking about the Jesus Who came to show us His Father’s love, the One Who came to die for them. That Jesus is supposed to ooze out through every one of our pores, because we have given God full possession of our lives.

Let’s talk more!
