10/14/21 Stewards, Not Owners

If you are a believer, it’s a given that God owns everything. He’s the sole owner of every heartbeat of all who have ever had blood pumping through their veins. The cattle on every hill are marked with His brand.

Then why is it we, as humans, have the audacity to claim anything as our own? The idea of “we’ve worked for it, so it’s ours” is a detrimental attitude if we are to serve the Lord with all our might. That right to ownership in our minds hinders us from ever coming to the full realization of the sovereignty of God. It stops us from truly glorifying Him in all we do.

As husbands and fathers, you really own nothing. Your wife and children are the Lord’s. Your friends and all the things you have called your own really belong to the Lord. You have only been given a stewardship of everything in your midst. Totally embracing that concept is quite sobering to say the least.

As a steward, you will answer to the Lord for the outcome of your existence. How did you steward everything God asked you to care for? Will the results of your life as a caretaker of people and the things that are important to Him - family, friends, time, etc. – be in accord with His wishes? He gave them to you for a season. How did you handle your responsibility?

10/13/21 The Jesus Connection

“If you don’t tell them about Jesus, who will? How will those around you know about the love that I have for them if you don’t explain it to them? You are My vessel that I have chosen to carry My good news to everyone that I place in your life. You are the one that I have chosen to show others Jesus. I believe in you. I trust you with My Word. I have called you, so I will make all My resources available to you, so that you can do your job effectively. Come to Me often. I will give you what you need to prosper in your well-doing.”

Proverbs 20:24a AMP

Man’s steps are ordered by the Lord….

Isaiah 30:21 NIV

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way, walk in it.”

Ephesians 3:7-9 NIV

7) I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.

8) Although I am less than the least of all God’s people, this grace was given me; to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

9) and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

So often we attempt to make this life in Christ so difficult when it is really very simple. Our job is to tell others about the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our Father God has dedicated Himself to helping us do that. He equips us, and we go forth to those He has placed in our lives. It just makes sense, doesn’t it?

Equip me, Lord,

10/13/21 Concealed Carry

There is a license called a concealed carry license. It means you have the freedom to carry a weapon to protect yourself. To obtain that license, you need to attend school to learn about weapons and your responsibilities when you carry one.

As a member of the body of Christ and as a husband and father, you have been given spiritual weapons to overcome every enemy that would attempt to harm you or your family. They are weapons that allow you to war on behalf of those you steward to win seen or unseen battles that confront them. You, in essence, have a concealed carry license from God!

How are you using your spiritual weapons? Are they concealed to the point that the enemy has free reign to overcome your wife or children? Does anyone around you know you possess these weapons, because they know you and your family understand your place in God, and they witness the freedom you and your family function in?

In a world that desires to destroy any trace of Christ-like character in you and your family, you’re not helpless. You have license to destroy the enemy’s challenges and tactics. You have a concealed carry license of unbeatable spiritual weapons. Don’t flash them to show your bravado, but use them to help win the battle for the Lord!

10/12/21 Conviction vs. Condemnation

“Discern the difference between condemnation and conviction. I will never even hint toward condemning you. A great price has been paid so that We can fellowship together and spend eternity with each other. To have done all of that, and then condemn you after you have surrendered yourself completely to Jesus, would be unthinkable.

"My heart is always for you. I am always on your side as you keep coming closer to Me. Rest assured, I will be in your corner cheering you on, using all My resources on your behalf as you submit to the work of the cross. I will continually encourage you. I will also convict your heart of those things that harm you and Our fellowship together. I tell you of those things because I love you. Respond to My conviction; cast aside any form of condemnation. It is never from Me.”

Rev. 3:19 AMP

Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].

So many of us are so in the habit of defending ourselves that we even try to do it when the Lord starts to convict us of those areas that need to be changed.  This world has gone so far astray from the truth that it seems as though most everything has migrated from definitive right and wrong into a muddy shade of gray. The Word of God, however, never does that with sin. Father God never condescends to our way of thinking. He calls sin exactly what it is – sin.

Even though we have been forgiven, have a new nature, strive toward holiness, and have access to sit on our loving Abba’s lap, we all still sin. It sure is wonderful to have Someone Who loves us so much and is always available to show us when we stray from the path. Never condemning, always on our side, never giving up on us, our Father leads us from the horrors of this world into a life of freedom—one conviction and subsequent repentance at a time. What an incredible relationship!

Thank You for Your convicting love, Lord,

10/12/21 Request Backup

When a police officer senses he needs help, he makes a call to his unit to request backup. He’s calling for assistance in a situation where he understands he can’t do it alone.

As a husband and father, have you ever called upon your family and requested backup? Have you ever humbled yourself to the point of allowing them to know you need help from them? Overseeing a family is a gargantuan task if your goal is that they live in an atmosphere where Jesus is Lord. It’s an atmosphere no amount of money or talent can provide. It requires you, as the head, to continually require help from God and your family.

Your wife and children need to understand that you will never succeed if you attempt to achieve that atmosphere by yourself. They need to understand that their part is to pray for you so you can be the man God desires you to be. They need to learn that only with the help of God will you be able to honor Him and serve them properly.

Maybe it’s time for you to have a family meeting so you can humble yourself before your family and ask them to pray for you. Maybe it’s time for them to know you need them to pray that you seek God in all you do in fulfilling your offices of husband and father, and also pray that He will be your source of strength and wisdom. In asking for backup to help you seek God, your family also learns how to ask for backup. It’s a great start to open communication and a big step in family unity - not to mention that it pleases and honors God.

Let’s talk more!
