The Privilege of Needing God

Being in desperate need is rarely considered a privilege. Most of us tend to want our need fixed. We always look forward to a time when we have no real, desperate needs. To us, that's freedom.

However, our Father in heaven knows better. He has formed us to need Him. Our very nature functions properly only when we rely completely on Him. It thrives only under the full and complete understanding that anything done without full and complete reliance on God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is a road to eventual disaster and hardship.

Everything Jesus has done and is doing for us is a call to depend on His Father. He did it Himself; now He is teaching us to do the same. What an amazing privilege to have a Father Who cares that much and a Savior Who spent everything to lead us to Him.

The Cross

Real life began at the cross. Real life continues when each of us goes to the cross to gain the life of Jesus. Eternal glory for our Lord and real life for us for all eternity because of the cross and our surrender to it.

The cross—past generations looked forward to it, our generation lives because of it, all eternity will look back on it. It is the single most important event in all of mankind's history.

In a time when the enemies of the cross are doing all they can to distract us and nullify the importance of the cross, we, as believers, can point to it in awe and wonder. It's the answer they are looking for. We need to show them the wonder, power, and life-giving promise of the cross!

Praise!

Praydio.com plays one of my favorite songs about praise. It's by Keith Green and it's called "Make My Life A Prayer to You." I'm convinced that a life that's lived as a prayer—a life solely dedicated to the Lord in intimate interaction—is the highest form of praise a believer can give to Him.

Praise is far more than singing songs to stir up emotions and make us feel good; it's giving high honor to a most Holy God in any way that glorifies Him. It's an expression from those who understand the adoptive covenant they are in through the cross of Jesus, so they lovingly give grateful heart expression in response to that covenant in any form they can. It's a life style!

A Sure Thing

No matter how things may appear, no matter what all of the experts say, no matter how you or I may feel about any given situation, there is one thing that can be counted on. Jesus Christ is Lord over that situation. It is a sure thing!

Leaders and game changers may believe they're in charge because of their money and influence. What they don't understand is that God is the One Who allowed them to prosper. God is also the One Who placed them in the position they hold. They may not know it or believe it, but it's true. All that they do will help fulfill the plans God has determined. That's a sure thing!

A Privilege

Just think, each of us has the privilege of holding the concerns of God's heart in our little heart. Then we get to be ministers for Him to those He is concerned about. Then we are honored to be able to exhibit the character of Christ, so that others can experience His love and life.

Above all, each of us is invited into an intimate relationship with the One Who is so powerful that galaxies came to life with His words, He's the One Who is more magnificent than we can ever imagine. What a privilege!
