12/02/20 Show Mercy

“Because I show you the concerns that I have for My people, do not make the mistake that I love you more than those who have not chosen to serve Me fully. My love is always the same. You need to know that so that you have the freedom to come to Me when you fail. I am always there for you. You also need to know that My love is always available to My children, so that you have a merciful heart for those who need to know Me better. They need to see My mercy. You show it to them; that is why I have given it to you. They need to see My love in action. That is one of the reasons I have shared it with you.

"They need to be free to be humble and bankrupt before Me without fear of Me. That is why I have humbled you. Give to others what I have given you. The best gift you can give to anyone is the understanding of the incredible wealth of needing Me for every action, every breath. I refine you; I orchestrate everything so that you have the necessity of needing Me. Then I impart Myself to you, so that you not only know Me yourself; but so that you can be a testimony of My ways and My compassions to others. My love for your enemies should motivate you to love them also. My love for your brothers and sisters in the Lord should bring you to repentance for your hardened heart toward some of them.”

Matt. 5:43-47a AMP

43) You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy;

44) But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

45) To show that you are the children of your Father Who is in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the wicked and on the good, and makes the rain fall upon the upright and the wrongdoers [alike].

46) For if you love those who love you, what reward can you have? Do not even the tax collectors do that?

47) And if you greet only your brethren, what more than others are you doing?

Ps. 145:8-9 AMP

8) The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness.

9) The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works [the entirety of things created].

I John 3:14-16 AMP

14) We know that we have passed over out of death into Life by the fact that we love the brethren (our fellow Christians). He who does not love abides (remains, is held and kept continually) in [spiritual] death.

15) Anyone who hates (abominates, detests) his brother [in Christ] is [at heart] a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding (persevering) within him.

16) By this we come to know (progressively to recognize, to perceive, to understand) the [essential] love: that He laid down His [own] life for us; and we ought to lay [our] lives down for [those who are our] brothers [in Him].

Forgive me, Lord,

12/01/20 Reality Check

“I love your honest praises, but I would rather talk. When was the last time that you let Me in on your most intimate needs, other than those requests that protect your flesh? I want you to discover those things that you need to know. That may sound somewhat foolish, but it is reality. Most of My children have little knowledge of what they have need of. You spend your days on a surface level of life without ever realizing that there is so much more available to you. Your directions and choices are implemented with only partial truths and limited knowledge as your criteria for making them.

"I have so much more available to you. If you would spend the time waiting in My presence before you move in any direction, you would save the time that you need to work your way out of the situations that you find yourself in because of carnal decisions. I say this so often, but you never seem to fully grasp how important it is for you to cultivate a habit of waiting in My presence.

"Would you ever consider taking a full day to spend time with Me? I already know the answer because that is not part of your thinking process or you would have done it. When is it going to be My turn to captivate your interest enough to consider time with Me a priority? I am weary of your false fellowships and your attempts to replace time with Me with offerings, songs, and surface prayers. I am weary of being placed down the list of priorities in your life. It is time for you to make some radical changes.

"Take this day to discover where I really am in your life. If I called you to be with Me for a full day would you come? I know you are busy. I know that you have responsibilities. Why am I not the first priority in your life like you say that I am?”

 Psalm 106:12-15 AMP

12) Then [Israel] believed His words [trusting in, relying on them]: they sang His praise.

13) But they hastily forgot His works; they did not [earnestly] wait for His plans [to develop] regarding them.

14) But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tempted and tried to restrain God [with their insistent desires] in the desert.

15) And he gave them their request, but sent leanness to their souls…

Boy! These kinds of words make me fall on my face in helplessness. I fully understand what our Father has on His heart. There is no question about the truth of making Him our priority in life.

How does that play out in the life of the homemaker who has children that demand every ounce of energy? Or the provider who is swallowed up with bringing bread to the table?

Being in full-time outreach for many years, I understand the wonder of our Lord’s ability to redeem, even multiply, any amount of time taken away from daily tasks that is spent with Him. I have also seen people struggle with turning any amount of time over to Him. They may prosper financially but lose so much of what is available to them in God’s economy, especially regarding relationships and the opportunity to share His love with both believers and non-believers in their sphere of influence. It is a struggle that has plagued mankind throughout the centuries.

The conclusions that I have come to are these. Priority must be a heart position. To be at peace with our Lord, each of us must do what is necessary to make our Lord the unchallenged priority in our lives. He must be the reason for everything.

Once that is an absolute, everything else falls in place. We then find that we do not need to try to find time with God; instead, it becomes difficult to remove ourselves from Him to deal with other things. Everything other than time with Him is seen as an interruption of the most important. Continuous communication becomes a natural element of our daily lives.

That may seem elementary, but I have found that most of us have never really functioned in that truth. If questioned, every one of us would swear that Jesus is our everything. The fact is, however, few of us function there. Life in general - daily situations, earthly distractions - are really in control of our time.

We miss so much, because we have not taken that very basic step of establishing the one necessary priority of placing God above everything else. Therefore, we attempt to add our Lord to our already busy lives, instead of flowing through life from His lap.

Needing to often go back and reestablish my single Priority,

11/30/20 Equipped

“When I call you to a specific task, I equip you. When a particularly difficult challenge comes your way, you need to know that corresponding heavenly power is available to you to complete the task at hand. All that you have been given because you are in Jesus is more than enough to overcome any onslaught of the enemy. Nothing can harm you. You, however, have a problem. Most of you are fighting battles that are not yours or have different ideas about what I am attempting to accomplish through you in a specific challenge. Because your immediate response is self-preservation and personal safety when difficulties come your way, you miss My purpose for the event taking place.

"You fight those I bring to you with anger. You separate yourself from those who offend you. You flee to a place that looks safe for you when you are afraid, instead of allowing Me to overcome the challenge right where you are. You need to stop seeing things around you with carnal eyes. You need to find out what I want done in every situation that comes your way. Look past what you see and allow Me to show you what is really transpiring. You will be amazed at how your life becomes a life of wonder and peace even in the midst of what appears as difficult times. Come to where I am. It is where you are born to be.”

Luke 10:19 KJV

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

John 4:34 NIV

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

John 10:11-13  AMP

11) I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep.

12) But the hired servant (he who merely serves for wages) who is neither the shepherd nor the owner of the sheep, when he sees the wolf coming, deserts the flock and runs away.  And the wolf chases and snatches them and scatters [the flock].

13) Now the hireling flees because he merely serves for wages and is not himself concerned about the sheep [cares nothing for them].

Acts 4:29-30 NIV

29) “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.

30) Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

When I was in basic training, one of the main reasons for everything that was done was to remove individuality and replace it with team effort. Even if only one person chose to be out-of-line with the program, everyone else paid the price for his rebellion.

In the spiritual realm, a high price has been paid for each of us to be enrolled in our Father’s troops. We have enlisted with Him so that His plans can be accomplished, not ours, whether we know it or not. Many people around us are paying a high price for our rebellion and ignorant behavior. More importantly, the desires of God are greatly hindered, because even though we are the vessels He chooses to use in any specific challenge, we choose to not get with His program and struggle to maintain ours.

Show me Your ways and forgive me for mine, Lord,

11/28/20 Living and Sharing the Truth

“The wonder of My Word is that it is universal. Its truths apply to all times and seasons. From the eternal past thru the eternal future, I have proclaimed what I will bring to pass. There is nothing that I have said that does not line up with My heart and My nature. Make sure that you understand what I have said before you base your life on loose and incorrect interpretations- those false ideas of men who use My Word for their gain. Study carefully so that you cannot be swayed by street corner prophets and siren songs that call for a life of ease and comfort. I have called you into being for the purpose of proclaiming the truth of My Word, not the lies of men’s hearts. Study what I have said. Know what I am saying. You are responsible to live My truth and bring it forth to others.”

Isaiah 2:22 AMP

Cease to trust in [weak, frail, and dying] man, whose breath is in his nostrils [for so short a time]; in what sense can he be counted as having intrinsic worth?

Isaiah 46:9-10 AMP

9) [Earnestly] remember the former things, [which I did] of old; for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is none like Me.

10) Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure and purpose.

Isaiah 48:3  NIV

“I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.”

Mark 4: 24 AMP

And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you – and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.

Luke 12:19-21 NIV

19) ‘And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ‘

20) “But God said to him, ’You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

21) “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”

1 John 2:6 AMP

Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

Since the beginning of time as we know it, the truth of the Word of God has been distorted by the enemy of our souls to tickle the desires of the sinful hearts of those who desire to use that Word for their own comfort and gain. As the closing moments of the Lord’s timetable draw near, many voices are being raised up that proclaim peace, safety, and comfort for those who will listen, when the Lord is calling for a sacrificial life for those who are truly His.

The Word of God never changes. Its truths apply for all seasons, every generation, and all economic and social groups. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and so is His Word. God has always called for absolute submission and surrender to Him.  Any teaching that does not exemplify the crucified life of Jesus as the pattern for us to live is a distortion of what the Word really says. It is dangerous to follow and will be frightening to justify when we stand face to face with Jesus.

Show me the truth of Your Word,

11/27/20 Your Real Desire

“I know that you know that My Holy Spirit dwells in you because of your commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I know that you know that you have access to Me at any time because of what has been done for you on the cross at Calvary. I know that you understand that I have given you authority to overcome any hindrance in your life, that My Word promises overwhelming power to tread on the power of the enemy of your soul. Why, then, are you so far from the example of the life of Jesus to your world? Why do you feel the need to strive for My presence? It is because of your priorities.

"You say that you put Me first in all that you do. You claim to have only My interests as the desire of your heart. You are deceiving yourself. You need to stop and ask Me to reveal the truth to you. Ask Me what your real desire is in all that you do, and then take the time to allow Me to reveal an answer. To continue on the path that you are on will keep you relatively powerless to affect your world. You will also continue to have little peace.

"There is so much more for you to experience in Me. There is so much more for you to do as I embrace your motives when they are pure. Come to Me now. I desire that you be all that you can be in Jesus. I desire for you to fulfill all that I have planned for you and have joy doing it. I desire to be able to be with you in all that you do, wherever you go, because it is My path for you. I love you! I am for you!”

Haggai 1:7-10 AMP

7) Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways (your previous and present conduct) and how you have fared.

8) Go up to the hill country and bring lumber and rebuild [My] house, and I will take pleasure in it and I will be glorified, says the Lord [by accepting it as done for My glory and by displaying My glory in it].

9) You looked for much [harvest], and behold, it came to little; and even when you brought that home, I blew it away. Why? says the Lord of hosts. Because of My house, which lies waste while you yourselves run each man to his own house [eager to build and adorn it].

10) Therefore the heavens above you [for your sake] withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its produce.

Revival of any kind begins in the heart. Proper motives and true spiritual work can be initiated only when under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and directed by the Holy Spirit.

So often many of us find ourselves struggling, striving, and pushing to find the peace and presence of the Lord in our lives. Maybe we need to read the Word more? Maybe we need to do more spiritual things? Maybe another night in church would do it? Maybe if I gave more?

God is looking for our hearts to display His heart. He is calling each of us to reveal His truth in all that we do. That truth comes from an honest relationship with Him, the kind provided for us at the cross. When we go to our Abba, our Father God, desiring only truth, our true motives for all that we do will be revealed, and our hearts will find peace when we repent of them if they are out of line with His Word.

Only Your truth, Lord,

Jim Corbett
