7/17/23 Be Still and Know

“I am a God of the impossible! There is nothing too hard for Me. If you really believed that you would take your hands off your worries. You would lay down your concerns and submit them to Me. You would believe My Word. You would trust Me to do what I have covenanted to do for you. I am God and there is no other. I have created everything and own everything. Nothing is impossible for Me. Trust Me. I love you!”

Psalm 46:10 NIV

Be still, and know that I am God...

Psalm 111:2 NIV

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.

Isaiah 31:1 AMP

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses and trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they look not to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek and consult the Lord!

It is so easy to forget the promises of God. It is so easy to bring God down to our level with all of its overwhelming concerns and helpless situations, instead of remembering Who He really is. I can so easily praise God with my lips and my hands raised, and in the next moment deny Who He is as I focus on my circumstances.

Teach me to praise You by honoring Who You really are, Lord,

7/17/23 What is God Doing?

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV) " So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

As we look around our world as it impacts our daily lives and the stewardship of our family, there can be much cause for concern unless we can see past what our circumstances tell us, and on to what our loving Father is really doing. It is easy to listen to the boasts of those who think they are in power and forget who is really in charge.

Our God is still very much on the throne. Jesus is our Mighty Lord, and the Holy Spirit is causing all circumstances to be in line with the ultimate plan of God. Even those who curse God are being used to do His bidding the same as Pharaoh was in Moses' time.

Looking beyond circumstances, there can be much joy if we see daily challenges for what they really are and understand that what God is doing is about mankind and our relationship with Him. Nothing has changed.

God has sent Jesus to restore the intended Garden of Eden relationship with Him. He is always after the hearts of those He has created. Once we accept the provision of the cross, He is always in the process of bringing us to an intimate relationship. Those who respond to that call are continually brought into challenging circumstances and refiner's fires to burn the world out of them. These fires become more intense for those who want only Jesus and nothing of the world and its ways.

Today if you see past what is in the headlines or look beyond the difficulties you are personally facing and on to what God is really doing, you will find His love in action. To the unsaved He is giving a chance to embrace His love before He closes things down. To His children, He is calling them to Himself in preparation for the most wonderful time possible, the marriage supper of the Lamb. To fathers and husbands, He is giving opportunity to repair the breaches in our fortress family.

Difficulties always bring need. Need forces us to cry out for help. Crying out for help to God always brings Him close and moves His heart. His bottom line is to make us like Jesus. Difficult times and refiner's fires do that. Look past them and embrace what is really happening; it is for your eternal good. Are you willing to go through the fires?

7/15/23 Trained for the Season

“Some of you are becoming submissive enough to My Word and My heart that I can use you. You will soon be able to be a faithful friend to someone else. I will be able to trust you with one of My fragile hearts. I will also be able to trust you with special missions that need attention in My church. Too often I have given assignments, only to see them in need of repair when those I trusted chose not to follow My heart. That will not happen with you. You have proven your faithfulness. You have submitted to My will and have chosen My ways above yours many times. I have trained you for this end-time season. I am now about to move through you. Let’s enjoy this season together. I love you with a pure Father’s love. You are safe with Me as We move together.”

Amos 3:3 KJV

“Can two walk together except they be agreed?”

John 20:21 AMP

Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be to you! [Just] as the Father has sent me forth, so I am sending you.

Gal. 4:19 NIV

My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you...

I believe that in the near future, God is going to call upon those who have been in training to do some very important work. That is why so many sold-out believers have been going through times of great pressure. Seasons that are important to the Lord call for trustworthy people, who are completely obedient to God and totally dead to themselves.

Don’t wimp out. Embrace the trials that you are going through for the refiner’s fires that they are. The Lord is not only with you through them, but He desires to use you because you have been made more like Jesus because of them. That is why you are where you are. Love deeper. Forgive more. Submit to the Lord and crave intimacy with Father God. You will make it. It will be worth it. You are valuable and are being raised up for such a time as this.

Let’s go for it, Lord,

7/15/23 You Are Valuable

Do you have any idea how valuable you are to your Father God? I don't think many of us men can really grasp the concept of a Father that loves us not for what we do, but just because we are valuable to Him. In fact, most of us look at the stewardship that we have been given only as an obligation that we will be held accountable for, without realizing that it is because He really cares for us, He chooses to trust us.

Some of us had an earthly father who demanded from us without the corresponding love and encouragement. We were told to live up to expectations to maintain some kind of worth in his eyes. Possibly because he never had any encouragement from his father, he wasn't able to pass on what he had no knowledge of. Whatever the case, we spent our days attempting to prove our worth to him, and to anyone else for that matter.

God is not like that. He lovingly places value on us, value that is not changed by our actions good or bad, right or wrong. His kind of value is a wealth beyond our comprehension. It is placed on us simply because we exist and belong to Him.

If we ever really comprehend that concept, we can take on the powerful stewardship given us as husband and father with an incredible joy, knowing that our heavenly Father is not only for us, but covers our back when we blow it. In essence, His mercy and grace flow stronger to us and our needs when we turn to Him because we are out of answers. He guards us, protects us, loves us unconditionally, and guides us to truth, just because we are His. Maybe it's time to bask in the value He places on us as we go about our days heading up our family, so we can pass unquestioned value on to them.

7/14/23 Spiritual Integrity

“Walk where I tell you to walk. Do what I tell you to do. Live like Jesus lived. Delight in what I am doing, no matter what the outcome of your life might be. It’s called being a follower of Jesus. He is honored when you really act the way He acts because you said that you are going to follow His ways. It’s called integrity. It’s called obedience. It’s called praise.”

Matthew 21:28-31 NIV

28) “What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’

29) “‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.

30) “Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ’I will sir,’ but he did not go.

31) “Which of the two did what his father wanted?”

Mark 4:24 AMP

And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you – and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.

1 John 2:6 AMP

Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

Our life in Christ is really pretty straight forward. We are supposed to act just like He acted. What really amazes me is that we, as followers of Christ who have the truth, often resemble the One we follow less than those who follow other gods and other ideas. They are full of zeal. We are filled with lethargy. They have their heart issues and causes as a priority in their lives. We place the desires of God far behind our own desires. They are strong in their beliefs and are willing to die for what they think is true. We have the truth and can still be fearful, doubtful, double-minded, and uncommitted.

Forgive me, Lord, for dishonoring You with my life,

Jim Corbett
