5/15/25 More Than Just Surviving

“Do you fully understand the changes that are happening all around you? If you look past your fears and the lies of the world, you will see that they are My hand of promise and My refining fires of change.

“For some time I have been calling My people to prepare for a time when they will need to really know Me. That time is just on the horizon. For some of you it is already at your door. Do not think that the answers that the world is searching for are the answers I will allow you to partake in. You need to look only to Me.  My Holy Spirit will point you to Jesus and His ways. The more you become like Him, the less the world and its fears will be able to touch you.

“I need a people who will do more than just survive in the coming times. I need valiant warriors for the cause of Jesus, people who love as He does and are willing to live as He did in your midst. I want you to be used. Submit to Him this day. Overcome what is happening now and prosper in the times ahead.”

Matthew 11:12 NIV

“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.”

Luke 9:23-25 AMP

23)And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself [disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself] and take up his cross daily and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also].

24) For whoever would preserve his life and save it will lose and destroy it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he will preserve and save it [from the penalty of eternal death].

25) For what does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and ruins or forfeits (loses) himself?

Acts 4:29-31 NIV

29) “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.

30) Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

31) After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

We are in the habit of protecting our comfort zones. We spend our lives building and maintaining. When what we have begins to slip through our fingers, we cry and call out for help from our Lord. “Please keep me safe from harm,” we say.

All the safety handles of life are being shown for the fleeting, false security that they always have been. The only real safety is in Jesus. Once we know that, and own it in our hearts, we can be used to do the will of our Father in heaven. He desires that we care nothing for our lives, what we own and what owns us, and really care for His desire that none should perish.

From the looks of things, things are well on their way to being exposed for what they are. Darkness is now being called light, and the real light is laughed at and criticized for being darkness. Those who are walking in the light of Jesus are being called blind and foolish.

At the same time, there is a panic in the hearts of those who have counted on the world and its ways to give them a sense of security and worth. All is falling away. All is becoming hopeless. They need to be given the real answer. His Name is Jesus.

Jesus is now asking you and me if we choose to cower in the darkness with those who cannot see, or desire to bring His light into those places. Are we going to really step into our calling as children of a powerful God and take His answers to those who need Him, or are we going to hide in hovels that have no safety?

Make my light brighter, Lord,

5/15/25 The Captivity of Activity

Each of us has seasons in our lives, which are designed by God to further our walk with Him or to challenge us to find His power to win the war against our drawing near to Him. One of my more recent seasons was spent on a porch in North Carolina, where I enjoyed the view of a wonderful mountain landscape. For five years, weather permitting, I was able to spend hours and hours with Him. I had been given no purpose but to sit and wait in His presence, find His direction, and then come back to His lap when any assignment was completed. Even though I didn’t fully appreciate it at the time, this season was more marvelous than I can express in words.

My season has definitely changed. At present, the demands of my life cause me to fight for moments with the Lord. I know He’s always available, waiting for me to join Him; but now, obligations are pressing in on all sides. There is a continual war raging to keep me from those quiet moments I had learned to cherish. The freedom to be with Him at almost any time I wanted now has to be fought for in the midst of the busyness of my life. If I don’t recognize the war and engage in the battle to be with Him, I become captive to all the activities that demand my attention. It’s a conscious battle that must be fought moment by moment if I want my life to be really significant in Him.

As husbands and fathers, you have the most important battle of your lives facing you every moment of every day. The demands you face and the choices you make will determine how well you are able to carry out your offices. If you don’t recognize that your priority must be to develop an intimate relationship with Father God and fight desperately for it, your life and the lives of those in your care will be greatly affected. Instead of a vibrant, world-overcoming love relationship with your Lord, you will find yourself and those around you counted among the lukewarm masses, unable to lead others to a significant life, the one bought for you at the cross. You’ll be held captive by your activity, unable to break loose from your bondage or help others to overcome their war. Is that what you want?

5/14/25 Who’s in Your Life?

“When will you begin to understand how precious each moment is? In your daily planner, have you noted to take the time to tell your mate and your children how much they mean to you? If you are a father and husband, when was the last time you laid hands on your wife and children and gave them a blessing? When was the last time you took the time to reflect on the wonderful people that I have placed in your life?

“With those questions in mind, what do you think you will wish that you had done more of when your life is almost over? Will you wish you had done more “things,” or will you desire to take back and redo the moments and opportunities you missed with those you love and those who love you?

“This very day there is probably someone you could touch deeply with a word of encouragement or a letter expressing your love for them. Don’t miss the opportunity to bless someone. I would like to tell you how much you mean to Me. You are valuable, and I love you.”

Romans 1:8 NIV

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.

Philemon v. 4-5  NIV

4) I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers,

5) because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints.

Merry and I would like to thank each of you for who you are and who you are becoming in Christ Jesus. We feel privileged to connect with you under the Lord’s umbrella. It encourages us tremendously to know that there are people all over the world who desire more and more of God, as the world moves farther away from Him. To be called your friend is an honor that we cherish. We do not take lightly what the Lord is building between us. You are valuable! May the Lord bless each and every one of you.

Thank You for these friends, Lord,

5/14/25 Do You Really Need God?

OK. Your job is going quite well. Your marriage is as good as any of your friends’ marriages. Your children may not be serving the Lord with all their hearts; but they’re basically honorable, and anyway there’s plenty of time for that to change. In fact, things could be classified as satisfactory. You really don’t need to seek the Lord with all your heart, do you?

Whether you know it or not, you’ve become a blind guide for those around you. You’ve forgotten what your relationship with Jesus is all about. You’ve bought the lie that it’s all about you and how well things are going in your puny world. You have become the center of your relationship with the Lord and are teaching others to do the same by your actions.

Being a child of God and a steward of other people carries with it grave responsibilities - life and death responsibilities. Christianity 101 is being so sold out to Jesus that others see Him in you. Never in the Word is there any hint that your relationship has anything to do with your comfort or complacency other than when God calls those areas sin. You and I are called to be the light of Christ to the world.

I don’t know about you, but I desperately need God and His mercy and power to be anything like Jesus. I believe that’s the bottom line for every one of us. The things that happen in our lives have little to do with whether or not we are to pursue a first love relationship with the Lord every moment of every day, and urge others to do the same with our every action and breath. If we persist in pursuing the Lord, our lives will be significant assets for His use.

When people see who we are when we act like Jesus, they will see who they are supposed to be. What happens after that is of little consequence to our mission of knowing God and being where He desires us to be. As we walk as Christ walked because we have been with Him, everything else will fall in place. We really need God every moment of our lives to get to that place and stay there, no matter what others do.

5/13/25 The Double

“I cherish every moment We get to share together. I have formed you to be with Me. Jesus has restored Our lost relationship that ended because of sin. Now things are as they were intended when Adam was first formed. Come to Me any time you need Me. Come to Me when you are lonely. Come when you hurt.  I will always be there for you. I love you.”

Gen. 1:31 NIV

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Psalm 46:1 AMP

God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

Isaiah 40:1-2 NIV

1) Comfort, comfort My people, says your God.

2) Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.

In the Isaiah verse above the phrase “…has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins” used to confuse and frighten me until someone explained what the “double” meant. In times past, when someone had a debt he couldn’t pay, he would post his debts on the most prominent part of his property for all to see.

Part of the custom of posting your bills on the front gate was a practice known as “the double.” This meant that everyone who saw the posting had several choices they could make. A person could pass by and ignore the need; or he could fold the paper from bottom to top - in essence “doubling” it - meaning that he would take on the debt as if it were his own and pay it for the other person.”

When God gives His double, He forgives completely. When He gave us our “double” at the cross with Jesus, all separation from Him was paid in full. We are now free from all debts, sins, and separation, fully restored to our intended place with Him.

I praise You, Lord,

Jim Corbett
