9/19/24 What Is Your God?

In the last days, the Bible says men's hearts will fail them for fear. It also says men will cry out to the mountains and rocks to fall on them and hide them from the face of Almighty God.

In those times, it is said that whatever has been your god will be that which is used to destroy you. If you have served pride all your life, then the pride that will not allow you to bend your knee to Jesus will destroy you. If hatred and anger are your gods, then cursing God Himself for the distress He is allowing will be a natural outflow from that kind of heart, etc., etc.

It is amazing to me how people interpret strong warnings about the end times, which I believe are just around the corner.  Instead of accepting and heeding them as the love warnings they are, people tire of them and continue to serve the gods they have served throughout their lives. It’s almost as if a purposeful challenge is being sent back to God - a challenge for Him to actually prove that the things He promised in His Word will happen. No one can conceive that a loving God would actually allow these things to occur.

Believe God. Please, believe God. His endtime scenario is a portrayal of real people very much like you and me, and they didn’t heed the strong warnings that were given a short time before the end. They were strong warnings very much like those we hear today, in times very much like these, to people very much like us.

What changes do you need to make so your family is prepared for the challenges that are on the horizon? How willing are you to make them?

9/18/24 What Have You Heard?

“Never compromise what I’ve called you to do! Never allow others to deter your calling with their carnal wisdom and street logic. I have trained you for a specific mission. There is purpose for your life. Others have not heard what you have heard from Our time together. Others have not been through the refiner’s fires you have endured and from which you’ve benefited.

"Walk with My counsel. Join with others who are moving in the same direction in which you have been called to go, but never allow them to change your course. Seek wise counsel, yes; but the final approval of your life will come from Our time together. Rely on My Word. Rely on the wisdom I have given you. You are called and anointed to a specific task. Your life is important! Let’s move and have Our being together!”

Acts 15: 36-40 AMP

36) And after some time Paul said to Barnabas, Come, let us go back and again visit and help and minister to the brethren in every town where we made known the message of the Lord, and see how they are getting along.

37) Now Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark [his near relative].

38) But Paul did not think it best to have along with them the one who had quit and deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone on with them to the work.

39) And there followed a sharp disagreement between them, so that they separated from each other, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus.

40) But Paul selected Silas and set out, being commended by the brethren to the grace (the favor and mercy) of the Lord.

Acts 21:13 AMP

Then Paul replied, What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart like this? For I hold myself in readiness not only to be arrested and bound and imprisoned at Jerusalem, but also [even] to die for the name of the Lord Jesus.

Obedience is big to Father God. An obedient Christian is developed over time through direct contact with the Lord, allowing Him to change the rebellion in each of our hearts. As He refines us, He also defines our lives. Each of us is tailor-made to live a specific life, which is ordained by God Himself and accomplished by the power of the Holy Spirit. To have someone, who hasn’t heard what you’ve heard and hasn’t paid the price that you’ve paid in prayer, try to modify what you’ve been called to do is a violation of the trust the Lord has placed in you. It’s an attempt to redefine the life the Father has called you to live.

It is very important to find trusted friends who understand who you are in Christ and are dedicated to always speaking truth to you, so that you can keep your direction in life in line with the Word of God. However, you are the only one who will answer for your life when you come face to face with the Lord. He has the final say in either calling your life significant or lighting the bonfire that contains the wood, hay, and stubble you’ve presented to Him.

Your way, not my way, Lord,

9/18/24 The Greeter

There is a familiar story about an individual who belonged to a small church. Several years previously, he experienced a dramatic conversion to Jesus Christ and had followed Him diligently ever since.

One day, he enthusiastically approached the pastor to inquire how he might best serve in the fledgling congregation. The only open position was that of a greeter, which he joyfully accepted.

Every Sunday without fail for many years, this man greeted everyone who came to the church for services. The congregation grew, due in part to the hearty, loving welcome people received as visitors. This man's ministry made a difference at this church.

After a time, the man - now in charge of many greeters - grew disillusioned with his position, and wanted what he considered a more important position in the church. When he was asked to remain as the head greeter, he felt the church did not really appreciate him, so he left.  Eventually he became more disillusioned, and fell away from the Lord.

The first love qualities of service, unashamed love, and child-like enthusiasm are the qualities of Jesus. When we lose them, we lose real life. Are you comfortable with being a servant to your wife? Do you consider it a privilege that you are supposed to care more about the significance of your children’s lives than your own vision? If your answer is “no" on either question, you might want to take it up with the Lord!

9/17/24 The Answer to Every Question

“I know that you have heard this many times before, but I really am your answer. Whatever your question might be, the answer is still the same. Through Jesus, you have unlimited access to Me. Whenever you come to Me, I impart more of Myself to you. My nature is grace. My nature is mercy. Come to Me. I will give you what will fulfill your every need and answer every question you have. I love you.”

Ps. 120:1 AMP

IN MY distress I cried to the Lord, and He answered me.

Romans 3:22 NIV

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.

II Cor. 1:3-4 AMP

3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God [Who is the Source] of every comfort (consolation and encouragement),

4) Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God.

For thousands of years, the world was crying out for relief from their bondages; God gave them Jesus. He imparted His very nature as every answer to every question and need people had. He still answers all our requests in the same way. Once we understand that all of our fulfillment, all of our hope, and everything we need to fill any void we will ever have is in Christ, we will be free.

Jesus, we couldn’t make it without You!

9/17/24 Corrections of Love

As God continues to reveal your shortcomings, be of good cheer!  God is doing the wonderful work in you that He promised so you can fulfill your roles as husband and father.  A while back, you didn't even know those things were part of you, did you?

I used to see everything I wasn't as a totally negative experience - probably my pride as much as anything else.  Now, as the Lord gives me continual reminders of just exactly who I am and how far I have to go to be like Jesus, I am more able to give myself over to Him, knowing only He can change me and that He wholeheartedly desires to do so.  My appreciation of Him has increased as He also builds the faith in me to believe that He really is Who He says He is.

What chance would my family have if I chose not to respond to the changes the Holy Spirit is always ready to do in me? Where would we be if God never exposed me for who I really am?  Probably sitting comfortably in some church pew with no clue as to the rude awakening in store for me down the road.  Have you seen any shortcomings lately?
