11/25/22 Leading Others to a Loving God

This relationship with God is all about love. While involved in the tangles of the jungle of this world, we so often forget why we serve God. Tasks and demands in this life tend to become priorities. Obligations and responsibilities of marriage and fatherhood sometimes become overwhelming.  All of this can cloud the main reason we serve God. That cloud can make us ineffective in leading others to Him.

Let’s remember so that we can tell others. Jesus chose to die because of His great love. God made that covenant with us because of His great love.  We can love others because we have the confidence that we are loved with an unquenchable, reliable love. God’s love will never let us go or forsake us. He will always be there for us no matter how many times we violate His love or our commitment to Him.

If you lead those around you in love as a husband and father, you will see incredible results with your efforts to show them Jesus. If you love others even with a modicum of the love that has been given to you, many will be unable to resist the One Who has placed that love in you.  It costs you nothing; give it a shot!

11/24/22 For Those Who’ve Forgotten

“Do not harden your heart because it appears that I have forgotten you. Do not become cynical when you see others living without heavy pressures and you can hardly take a breath without pain. I hold you in your need. When you have completed this refining fire, I want you to understand the pain I feel for those who are so lost that they feel they have no need of Me. I want you to notice the dangerous position they are in and care as Jesus cares for them.

"You are being trained to have compassion for others who have forgotten their need of Me and learning to delight in My will being done in their lives. Don’t give up!  Press in to Me. I am with you!”

Romans 8:9-17 NIV

9) You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

10) But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.

11) And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

12) Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.

13) For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live,

14) because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

15) For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

16) The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

17) Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

2 Cor. 1:8-9 NIV

8) We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.

9) Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

We forget that after we come to Christ, we are being formed to allow the life of Jesus to be lived through us. When Jesus walked on this earth, He was showing us all how to live. He had the ardent desire and the God-inherited freedom to be deeply in love with His Father and with everyday, ordinary people. Most of those whom He loved freely, and therefore touched the deepest, didn’t have a clue as to who He really was at first. They only knew deep down in their hearts that this special man who lived in their midst somehow loved them in a way that they had never been loved before. It was a love that contained a mysterious kind of power and they wanted to find out what that power was.

Seeing His bright-eyed, mouth-open kind of happiness when they were healed or delivered, people knew He had something special to give them and that He was probably worth following, at least long enough to learn more about Him. When He put His hands on and embraced the outcast, or when He intimately contacted the lonely, chastised leper - something that just wasn’t done in His society - He was viewed as being noticeably different. When He laughed and bear hugged in the wonder of the healing moment with that same lower element of society, He broke their stony hearts and planted a new kind of hope in their souls.”

Teach me Your ways, Lord,

11/24/22 Leading Others

As the frontier developed, pioneers hired wagon masters, who hired scouts to guide them through unknown territory. These leaders were of utmost importance for the safety of the whole wagon train. Without them, the novice pioneer was doomed to succumb to the perils of the trip, and open prey to any hardship encountered. They relied upon the expertise of the wagon master for all details, and the scout for his knowledge of the uncharted terrain. These men had been there before and worked from personal experience, not from theory or guesswork. It was almost certain death to follow someone who didn’t know what he was doing.

God is calling His men to an intimate, holy relationship with Him in these closing hours of time. He is raising up those men who choose intimacy with Him to guide others through the peril that is on the horizon. He is calling forth mighty men of God to teach others to overcome the world and its ways, and re-establish His ordained offices of husband and father.

As foolish and hazardous as it would be for an inexperienced wagon master or scout to hire on as a leader of a wagon train, a man unfamiliar with an intimate relationship with his heavenly Father in the throne room of God is almost certain death to those who will need his guidance for the challenges ahead. As Jesus did nothing of Himself but only what His Father told Him to do, so must a man who guides others. He will not be able to give away what he himself does not own. He will not be able to take others to the safety of intimacy with the Lord if he has not often been there himself.

The world is changing at a remarkable rate. A new frontier, a spiritual walk in the kingdom of heaven with God in Christ is required to overcome the world. Throne room familiarity is becoming a necessity.   Intimacy with God will be the only sure way of navigating the rough terrain ahead. A deep, personal, Christ kind of love will be the only option in bringing reason to the darkness that mankind is about to fall into. How will you, as a father and husband, lead others through the mire and above the world if you haven’t been there yourself?

Today is the day to decide to take up a new address in the kingdom of heaven with God in Christ. It will require a decision to make intimacy your priority, not only to please your Father in heaven, but to gain what is necessary to teach others how to go there themselves. When are you going to go there so they can follow?

11/23/22 What’s Your Legacy?

“What is your legacy? What are you leaving behind as your life’s work? I am not talking about bank accounts and buildings. I am talking about those you have touched to further My kingdom. Will anyone continue with My work because of your work with them? Have you instilled the desire to further My kingdom in anyone? If not, why not? What is stopping you? Why are you not investing in someone? It is why you have been given a chance to know My will. When will you start fulfilling your legacy?”

 Matthew 5:13 AMP

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality) how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men.

Matthew 6:19-21 NIV

19) “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

20) But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

21) For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Father God is developing a bridal heart and the same character that Jesus has in those who will respond. We must be like Him in our hearts if we are to intimately walk with Him and live passionately for Him. Can you imagine Jesus coming for a church that is selfish, self-centered, and harbors murder in her heart?

Can you imagine Him enjoining Himself to one who looks to the delicacies around her that please her more than He pleases her? Does it seem possible that Jesus would function in a relationship where His bride would not have the same desires, the same motives, and the same purposes in all that they do together? To think so is ludicrous!

Teach me, then teach me to move with You, Lord,

11/23/22 Daddy Issues

Over the years I have discovered that one of the most prominent foundations for harmful or broken behavior stems from issues dealing with the father figure in some way. Abuse of any kind by the father can bring a lifetime of pain and suffering. That’s obvious; but what about the father who is absent physically or in spirit - meaning “he just wasn’t there” or “he was too busy”? That basically non-existent relationship has no doubt caused harm to countless men and women through the ages.

God has established the offices of husband and father as the highest offices on this earth. A proper covering by the father creates a generation of men and women who can become key players in God’s kingdom work. Conversely, a father who has no idea how to use his office effectively is a catalyst for producing a generation of wounded, hurting offspring who may never recover sufficiently to join the Lord in furthering His plans. Because of the errant actions of the father, these wounded children - of any age - will not truly be set free until they are functioning under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Men, your God-ordained role of father is far more important than you could ever imagine. God designed the office you’ve been given to give your offspring fertile gardens where they can grow and prosper, and become vessels that God can use to change their world. Anything less than that will be something you will answer for when you stand before Him unless you repent and change your ways.

It’s not too late! Today you can ask the Lord to undo anything you’ve done that is harmful to those He has given you to steward. Today you can call upon the Lord for His power to make you a steadfast vessel for Him, so that you are equipped to lead your children past any “daddy issues” they may have because of your ignorance. Today Father God is ready to make you the kind of father He intends you to be for the good of your children and those they impact. He will even take you past your own “daddy issues” so that you can prosper. Are you willing to walk it out?

Let’s talk more!
