12/23/22 Waiting for God’s Plan to Develop

“Don’t expect praise from others as you work for Me. Don’t wait for others to validate what I tell you to do. Success, as you see it, has little to do with why you are to continue functioning where you are until I give you another assignment. You are to obey. You are to stay the course I have given you. You are to listen only to My heart and wait for My plans to develop.”

Psalm 106:12-15 AMP

12) Then [Israel] believed His words [trusting in, relying on them]; they sang His praise.

13) But they hastily forgot His works; they did not [earnestly] wait for His plans [to develop] regarding them.

14) But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tempted and tried to restrain God [with their insistent desires] in the desert.

15) And He gave them their request, but sent leanness to their souls and [thinned their numbers by] disease and death.

We love to second-guess God. We love to use our own reasoning to further the kingdom of God. We also love to tell God when enough is enough, and that our trial should be over by now.

So often we move ahead of God and miss the best that He has for us by moments. If we had waited to make sure that it was God’s time to move instead of ours, we would have His best for us rather than mediocre success. We need to allow patience to have its perfect work.

Teach me to rest in You, Lord,

12/23/22 Our Privilege

Being a husband and father is a God-given privilege. It is pretty incredible to think that He trusts us enough to place the lives of other people in our hands - people He loves as much as He loves us. Because of this tremendous responsibility, He also gives us Himself and all that He has so that we can succeed as husbands and fathers. He is always available and ready to supply whatever we need to fulfill our offices.

Our Father has promoted us, then pledges to equip us, and allows us to observe the wonder of the work He accomplishes in us and in those we’ve invested in.  Yes, the offices of husband and father include an enormous responsibility, but what immeasurable joy and satisfaction there is to experience in the process when fully submitted to Him. What an extraordinary privilege! I encourage you to make the most of it!

12/22/22 All Notice

“Have you noticed that My story continues? I continue it in every person to whom you show Jesus. People know My plan because of the joy that they see in you, your increasing dedication, the passion you are developing for the deeper things concerning My plan; or when you settle for a plan that is far less than I intend for them to see.

"They know it when you fail desperately, but have some place to go and get relief as you come to Me. They see it when I anoint what you do and you pass the credit back to Me. They may not understand. Some may hate who you are becoming. Others may be given taste buds for more of Me. Some delight in your failures to represent Me properly.

"Be assured, all notice. Each and every moment you breathe, My story goes on through you whether you live properly or you remain unmoved. I trust you to carry My story with the life that it deserves - the life of Jesus. I wait for you to understand the importance I place on how you show Him to others.”

 Mark 6:30 NIV

The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.

Luke 12:48b AMP

For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more.

Most of our lives we walk around representing ourselves, our employer, our parents, etc. All of a sudden, one day we give our hearts to Jesus. Our reasons rarely even resemble the proper reasons of serving God and His plans. Most of the time, they are because of our need, or the comfort of relief from sin. Little do we know that from that very moment, we become representatives of God. Because we became His, we now are the example of either the incredible life-changing power won for us at the cross of Calvary or a dull, religious practice. Once we accept Jesus, there is no turning back. No matter how we act - good, bad, or indifferent - we are telling others who He is by what we do and who we become. What an incredibly sobering thought!

Forgive me for all the times I have not represented You properly, Lord,

12/22/22 Heavy Stuff

As men, most of us get great satisfaction in achievements. If we are successful, we feel that we’ve done something of great worth and enjoy the results. In doing a great job, we have the additional satisfaction of having others note that we can be trusted with a better position, so we get promoted and are given more responsibility. That is all good stuff, and it motivates us to continually do better.

As a husband and father, we’ve been given the highest offices available to any human being.  In essence, we have been promoted before we’ve achieved anything worthwhile to earn that high position.  Most of us have few skills to succeed at our high office.

With our promotion - whether we like it or not - comes great responsibility.  Success or failure in fulfilling our offices properly brings eternal consequences. It includes the possibility that our wives or offspring could be separated from God for eternity, in part, because of how we function in our offices. In addition to that horrible prospect is the reality of standing before the Most High God and being required to give answers for our actions concerning the stewardship of our families.

At a minimum, failure at our position could place our sons in the unenviable position of not having the skills they will need for their own high position of overseeing their families, and possibly standing before God themselves with little success if we couldn’t equip them properly with the tools we passed on to them, and they never found another way to acquire the proper tools. Our daughters could be ill-equipped to face life’s challenges because of our lack of proper investment in them. Our wives may not become all they can be in Christ because we don’t or can’t provide the proper atmosphere for them to prosper spiritually. These are some pretty heavy thoughts to ponder for any thinking human being. What are you going to do about them?

12/21/22 Because of Love

“Everything I do is based on love. You need to remember that, whenever the enemy accuses you of who you are not. The idea of the cross was because of My love. Jesus spent His life because He loved you. The idea of you being with Me for eternity was My idea. I am observing your heart. I am building My love in you. For now you and I need to talk. Tell Me whatever you need to tell Me. Express your heart. I will begin by expressing Mine. I love you.”

Gen. 1:31 AMP

And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely….

Isaiah 38:17 NIV

Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.

Matthew 26: 53-54 NIV

53) “Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

54) But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

Luke 23:34 NIV

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

So many times we misinterpret the ways of God toward us when we enter difficult times or when He is pruning us. During those times, the enemy attempts to confuse the issue by attempting to remove the love of our Father God from the situation.

Very simply stated, Jesus lived an exuberant, passionate life because He loved deeply and knew the truth. Everything that He did had love as its foundation, its continual motivation, and its ultimate goal. Nothing, not even death, could move Him from expressing that love to and for those around Him.

Because He was One with and knew His Father intimately, He understood the truth about the fate of mankind as a result of the fall. Because He lived with His Father in all of eternity past, He knew what separation from His Father for all eternity future really meant for those He loved and created. He felt His Father’s heartbreak because some would perish.

Thank You, Lord,

Jim Corbett
