8/27/25 Your Interpretation of Lordship

“I would like you to peruse everything that you call your own and see if you would really give it away if I asked you to do so. Where does My ownership stop? If there is a time that it does stop in your life, what is your interpretation of “Lordship” and “Master”? Where do you draw the line when it comes to stewardship of My wealth and cross into personal ownership? If I asked you to give away everything, would you do it; or is that kind of request outside of My jurisdiction?

“How can you say that I own your life if I really don’t own every relationship, every moment, and every item in your life? Search My Word and see if you can find your license to claim anything as your own if you’ve given your life to Me. Jesus owned nothing, including His life, as an example to each of those who were to come after Him. His waiting bride is in training to do the same.”

Acts 4:29-35 NIV

29) “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.

30) Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

31) After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

32) All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.

33) With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.

34) There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales

35) and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.”

The above verses fascinate me as much as any verses in the Bible. They occur as a fledgling church moved in a society that was reeling from the most incredible event in history - the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Just after the Holy Spirit empowered them, the church formed patterns for others to follow. As stated above, when in peril, they asked for boldness to proclaim Jesus, not deliverance from the danger. It was too early for the different interpretations of what had happened to pollute them, so they had one heart and one mind.  Their risen Master owned nothing and gave everything. It was natural to do the same, not even counting the cost.

Isn’t it fascinating that those who probably walked with Jesus acted very much like He did, once they were strengthened to do so? It seems that as more time elapses - and the further we, as believers, get from the actual resurrection day - the more room for personal interpretation of how Jesus lived is involved in the way that we choose to represent Him. It is also fascinating that we seem to be less powerful in everything we do as that occurs.

At present, we, the church, have become so much like the world in most of what we do, that our impact on the world is far less noticeable. We almost fit comfortably in a society that hates Who we are supposed to represent. Sort of makes you want to go “Hmmmm!

Change my heart, Lord,

8/27/25 Reclaiming What’s Been Taken

If your marriage is out of order and your children have little use for you or Jesus, you have an obligation to do something about it. Counseling won’t suffice. Plans and schemes will produce little result. Anger, frustration, and legal action will adversely affect any hope of pleasing God. You are in a spiritual battle and need to engage in the war to reclaim what’s been stolen from you.

God has given you all the tools you need to help undo anything you, your wife, or your children have done to destroy what God desires to use for His glory. He’s provided guidelines for you to follow to enter into the realm that He has already won. Reclaiming what’s been taken from you is a victory awaiting you if you engage in the problem His way.

Once you admit that you’ve lost a spiritual battle that’s been allowed to rage because you’ve been neglect in working with your marriage and children God’s way, you can begin on the road to victory. Repent of your ways. Turn everything over to God and His Holy Spirit. Readjust your priorities, making the war very important and personal as He does. Examine His Word and become familiar with His weapons. Use them from your knees until things are back in order. It will be worth the effort in ways too numerous to count.

8/26/25 Complete

“In the quiet place of intimacy with Me can be found all that is needed for you to be complete. When all the distractions that the world calls prosperity have been stripped away, you, My child, will find true prosperity. What the wisest scholar could not grasp about the true meaning of life will be comprehended fully by the youngest child who is truly Mine. At that time, My people will understand My Son's heart as He was led to the cross.  They will understand the kind of love He had for those who cursed Him. At that time, only what is truly important will be worth knowing.  All else will pass away as so much rubbish.  My people will prosper as I see prosperity.”

Phil. 3:10-11 AMP

10) [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted, with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

11) That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].

This scripture has brought me so much life! In the many times that I have studied it, I have learned something each time. I believe that the operative thought our Father would impart here is "freedom."

Paul is giving us the key to Christ’s kind of freedom in every circumstance. This is not a "What can You do for me, God?" kind of Christianity. It is an "I realize that I have been bought with a price; I will gladly do what is necessary to serve You properly, Lord" kind of love. It is the kind of wealth that allows us to joyfully overcome everything the world has to offer.

People who are in this for their good rather than the Lord’s purposes will think you've gone stark raving mad if you pursue this kind of life. Then again, the world’s way of thinking could never understand God's kind of freedoms. Understand also that every trial you incur will really be a gift given to you to make you more like Jesus. It's also God's way. That means that even those who would come against you are really helping you in your quest. What an incredible God!

8/26/25 Advancing God’s Kingdom

God’s kingdom advances in part by how your family grows spiritually. You and your family have an important part in the way the world comprehends the Gospel. They see the work of Jesus by the way you present Him to them.

Think of the impact you can have in the world around you. Think of the impact a spiritually mature wife and spiritually alive children can have on those they come in contact with. In no other way can their influence be more important.

Look around. Look at all the out-of-order marriages. Think of all the children who have only the world and its ways to guide them. You and your family can help make a difference in their lives as you present Jesus. As you point to Him in spoken and unspoken ways, those around you can find what they need to live a vibrant life in Christ and then point others in His direction. What a wonderful ripple effect! What an incredible opportunity!

8/25/25 The Generation Gap

From The Father Factor by Jim and Merry Corbett

Did you know that in God’s eyes there is no such thing as a generation gap? That whole concept is nothing more than spiritually ignorant, psycho-babble hogwash. Spiritually alive parents who have chosen to invest in their children, considering them more important than themselves and spiritually alive children, who have chosen to invest in the family by the power of the Holy Spirit, have no time to buy into that ridiculousness. The generation gap concept was created by spiritually impotent people, who attempted to incorporate their impotence into guiding and directing their offspring. It is nothing more than a way to excuse their inability to lead their children as they continue to walk in their own ways and thinking. What they really need to do is submit to God through Jesus Christ so that the life of Christ can flow in them through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is God’s wisdom, strength, love, etc. that we need – not ours. Ours will not truly get the job done. Of course, each generation has its own tastes and preferences; but communication, understanding, mutual love and respect, discernment, and prayer overcome any differences and allow generations to flow together with peace and harmony.

Raising godly children requires a lifetime of investing in them, most of the time in ways that violate our personal comfort zones. It is going to take a lot of surrender of our own ways to the Lord, a lot of prayer, a lot of selfless choices, placing their well-being above our comfort; and a lot of heart work. Yes, heart work. However, the eventual satisfaction and rewards of seeing a child being formed by God and the character of Jesus going forth through our children more than compensates for whatever price we may have to pay.

Godly children, who eventually become godly adults, are the goal and heart desire of Father God for both marriage and family. His standards are higher than the world’s standards and most of the standards in the typical church of today. He is after the heart of our children, not their compliance. His methods raise the bar in comparison with “normal” child rearing.

[While education is vitally important and must be part of any child’s growth process, which child lives a more significant life – one who has all the degrees in the world, a successful business, and a mediocre life in Christ; or one who has the priorities of God as his priority, dedicating himself to bringing others to significance while having few of the successes of the world?]

Investing in our children God’s way creates generations of strong, healthy children, who are full of integrity and inner wealth and capable of not only overcoming any of the challenges that come their way, but actually prospering because of them. Raising children God’s way brings proper credit to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and a testimony of His eternal work.

Knowing this, each of us has a choice to make at some point in our lives. This moment may be that time for you. You can approach child rearing with an attitude that your children are the ones who need to conform to His ways on their own, or you can settle it in your heart, once and for all time, that who you are and who you become in Christ is a major factor in determining who they will become.
