9/11/25 Unconscious Advance

Often we forget that God is continually at work on our behalf and for the good of those we love. He has called us to the position of husband and father. He will equip us for the task if we seek Him for His power. He promises to never leave us or forsake us. He will continually advance His plan for our lives and the lives of those we love. There are no “off days” with respect to His hand on us accomplishing what He desires.

When the obligations of my offices overwhelm me, and my failures seem to far outnumber any semblance of success, I remember a comment made by a dear pastor who is now enjoying the Lord's company face-to-face.  He used to say, "There has never been an emergency meeting of the Trinity."  If we could only remember that every moment, maybe we could stop setting those meetings up down here because we see no evidence of change in us or our circumstances.

Is God  trustworthy  and all-powerful or not?  Of course He is! I guess that puts the ball back in our court. "Lord, give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart that has the ability to trust You completely!"

9/10/25 More of God

“Are you ready to be entrusted with more? I don’t mean for you to do more programs, nor am I asking you to take on more work. I am questioning whether you have heeded My calls and My warnings to prepare your heart for more of Me. I give Myself to those who desire to live the life of Jesus in front of those who need to see Him. To gain His life requires your death.

“Have you asked to be broken before Me? Have you renewed your commitment to His Lordship over every area of your life? Are you longing only for His return? Is your sole purpose for living My purpose for your life? How can I trust you with more if you have not honored what I have already given you? I desire to give you more of Me, but I can’t until you are ready to receive it and use it properly. I am waiting!”

Galatians 2:20 AMP

I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]: it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

2 Cor. 5:14-15 AMP

14) For the love of Christ controls and urges and impels us, because we are of the opinion and conviction that [if] One died for all, then all died;

15) And He died for all, so that all those who live might live no longer to and for themselves, but to and for Him Who died and was raised again for their sake.

2 Cor. 5:20 NIV

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.

Luke 12:48b AMP

For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more.

All over this nation and in some parts of the world, Merry and I are communicating with people who are hearing the call of preparation. It is a remnant call of holiness, death to self, and full devotion to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I believe that it is the bridal call.

For many years, the Holy Spirit has been wooing lovers of Jesus to separate themselves unto Him and Him alone. Those who have responded are setting aside the trappings of the world and of self to prepare as a waiting bride would prepare. Nothing is too difficult, no price is too high, and no measure is too great for those in waiting. They are truly no longer their own. Their only goal is to be more like, and therefore honor, the only One they love.

Break my heart, Lord,

9/10/25 Our Privilege

Have you ever thought about the privileges we have as husbands and fathers? Though there are many, one of the most wonderful is the ability to hold those we love before the Father for His blessing upon them. Not only do we observe their days; we also have the honor of laboring in prayer for them as we see their needs.

Think of it. God has chosen us to be a valued asset in the lives of those we love, to lend a hand for their best interests, to undergird them in their times of need or challenge by presenting them before our mighty God for His faithful intervention. That’s some pretty powerful stuff!

The apostle Paul talked about being in pain as if in childbirth until Christ was formed in his circle of influence. He considered it his task to hold them before the One Who can do something about their real need. We can do the same for those we love. It’s our job, our moment-by-moment assignment! It’s our calling and privilege!

9/09/25 Self-Focused

“In your quest to be like Jesus, make sure that you do not remain self-focused. It is not His way. Even though you are concentrating on His character and comparing yours to His so that you can repent for change to take place, keep your heart toward others. Be aware of those around you who have need. Long for souls. Listen to My directives. While the work is being done in you, there is much to be accomplished through you. Jesus always cared for others while I was working through Him. You do the same.”

Genesis 1:27-28a AMP

27) So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him: male and female He created them.

28a) And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]…

Psalm 106:12-15 AMP

12) Then [Israel] believed His words [trusting in, relying on them]; they sang His praise.

13) But they hastily forgot His works; they did not [earnestly] wait for His plans [to develop] regarding them.

14) But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tempted and tried to restrain God [with their insistent desires] in the desert.

15) And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their souls…

John 5:19-20 NIV

19) Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

20) For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does.”

The character of Christ will never be complete in us until we care for others the way He did. He gave His life so that you and I could be spared eternal separation from God. That kind of love is not something that would simply be good to have; it is paramount if we say that we follow Him. If it is not in us, every one of us should make it our priority to attain it. We can’t grunt it into existence. We can’t make believe that we have it by doing good things. The only way it will ever be achieved in us is if we go to the Father in repentance for our lack of desire for Jesus to live through us.

Father, I repent of not wanting to be completely eliminated so that Jesus can freely live through me,

9/09/25 Seize the Moment

Being a man who’s lost one of his children, I’m often reminded of the many wasted moments, wrong decisions, and times when other things appeared more important than devoting time to her. I look back and wish I had seized every opportunity to enjoy her, instead of placing other supposedly more important things ahead of her.

As husbands and fathers, we are truly blessed. We each have the honor of witnessing the lives of those God has given us. As we observe their days, it’s our privilege to share in the delights they experience and grieve with them when they’re in need of a shoulder to cry on. All investments in them add to the wonder of participating in the life God has given them.

At certain points in the din of everyday life, most of us lose the importance of time spent with those standing close to us. Instead of grasping every instant to appreciate those precious moments, challenges, decisions, needs, and schedules cloud the wonder of family life, sometimes to the point of being too late. How I wish I had redeemed the time! How I wish I had seized every opportunity I had to participate in my first daughter’s life!  Today I determine in my heart to not make the same mistake with those who remain.

Let’s talk more!
