From the book, The Father Factor, by Jim and Merry Corbett Valiant men, who renew their covenant with God and with each other, must be the catalyst in their circle of influence; so that those they influence can see the need for and the wonder and power of this kind of heart and desire it themselves. God is stirring the hearts of men at this very moment to desire the covenant heart and surrender completely to Him. God is rebuilding His truth in the hearts of those who are seeking truth, infusing them with a new desire to be all that they can be in Jesus Christ. He is restoring the offices of husband and father in His church. He is reversing the spiritual deadness and revitalizing open hearts with a new love for Jesus. He is causing those who repent of their spiritual deadness to once again live and act as Jesus would toward Him, His Word, His desires, and His promises - all for the fulfillment of His plans during this season in time. If we liken this time to the rebuilding of a football team, God Himself is in the process of building a team that will never lose another game. It is a team that has so embraced His will that there is nothing that can sway them from perfectly executing every task with the flawlessness that Jesus did. This team will have immersed itself in the plans of God and the ways of Jesus so thoroughly that they will know how to love as He does, serve as He serves, submit to the Father’s plans as He does, and win according to the Father’s game plan. Anyone who follows Jesus has been commissioned to tell others about the love and wonder of His life, death, and resurrection, so they can embrace Him for eternity. We are called to live His life before others in a world that offers no answers and gives no mercy when we fail.

As men, we have additional commissions. We are called to love our wives as Christ loves all of us, cherishing them moment by moment. We’re to place their lives before ours, holding them in high esteem at any cost. Our offices are also designed for us to raise our sons and daughters in an atmosphere that will allow them to develop significant lives to present to God on the day they see Him face to face. Both of these commissions produce healthy marriages and healthy families, which are the backbone of a healthy society.

Men, God has commissioned you to present strong marriages and healthy, Christ-loving families to a world that is out of answers. Reversing what the enemy has stolen begins with you. God is calling you to call upon Him to show you how to be a valiant man, who is aware of his commissions, so you can properly impact those you have been given as His steward. Will you answer the call?

One of the highest honors a man has is to serve God by serving his wife and family. Taking his stewardship and responsibility seriously brings glory to the plan God has for families. Those, who follow Jesus and His heart of love and service, help to create generations of Christ-loving heirs and significant lives.

Any man, who is completely sold out to the Lord and living a life of dedicated service to Him, is an example to his wife and children. In that atmosphere, they have the freedom to function in the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, overcoming the horrors of the world around them. They have a chance to overcome the world as Jesus did, rising above any power that is against them.

Men, if you’re serious about serving God and wanting to please Him, dedicate yourself to Jesus first and then to your wife and family. Choose to love as He does. Choose to serve as He did. You will bring glory to God and impact more lives for Him than you can possibly imagine. With Him, all things are possible.

Stewardship begins with submission. Full submission does irreparable damage to the lower kingdoms and advances the kingdom of God immeasurably. As stewards of the Gospel and our families, there’s no better way to live properly than to get out of the way and allow Jesus to live His life through you. Your repentance of your old ways allows the ways of Christ to come forth in your life. The more you submit to His ways, the more trustworthy you become and the more you resemble Him.

Start wherever you can right now. Find out what the Lord is asking you to set aside in your life. Submit to His power to remove it from you. Watch with a spiritual excitement as His power overtakes the strangle hold that sin has had over you. Continue to submit to Him until every residue is gone, no matter how long it takes. Then, when the entanglement is removed, rejoice in the freedom you have through your participation in one more miracle that glorifies the work of Jesus. Rest there until He chooses to focus on your next limitation. Then move with Him against it until you’re free from it. Continue on in this manner until you delight only in His ways and are free from yours.

Because our fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers and many past generations of men have not understood their roles in life, we now live in a society of compromised husbands and fathers, who are also ignorant of the impact they have in everyday life. Most men are blissfully unaware that the unrest they see all around them is the direct result of the spiritually weak husbands and fathers in previous generations, as well as those in the present generation.

Marriages are cast aside when the going gets rough, because the value and purpose of marriage has never been taught to both husband and wife. Fatherless men roam the streets, fuming with anger, because they have little knowledge of who they are and who they’re supposed to be. Women reel in confusion because fathers have never taught them their value, nor loved them in the love of Christ. They cannot understand how a man is supposed to function, because their fathers were never taught how to function as a proper husband and father.

Men, it’s time to repent. It’s time to find out what the Lord’s idea of a man is all about. God is calling His men to study the character of Jesus, and then walk in the love and integrity of His life. Society is crying out for men to assume their true position. Marriages are in need of men who will fulfill their God-appointed roles. Sons and daughters need to live in an atmosphere of Christ’s kind of love, so they can see who Father God really is. This will help to break the curse of past family generations, which has produced confused men and women, who are incapable of thriving in a strong, godly, loving family. When we, as men, understand and walk in our roles in the power of the Holy Spirit, our wives and children will be free and encouraged to become all they can be in Christ and show Him to the rest of the world in their everyday lives. Isn’t that what we all want for them?
